Death Toll in Philippine Boat Accident Climbs to 15
The death toll from a ferry boat accident in the Philippines has risen to 15, while hundreds of passengers have been rescued. The accident happened at around 1:50 am on Monday as the vessel was traveling to Jolo in Sulu province after leaving Zamboanga.
Officials said the passenger boat, MV Trisha Kerstin 3, encountered trouble at sea, leading to panic among passengers. Rescue teams, including the coast guard and local fishermen, rushed to the area and saved many people from the water.
Those rescued were taken to nearby ports and shelters, where they received medical help. Authorities said search and rescue operations continued for several hours to ensure no passengers were left missing.
The government has started an investigation to find the cause of the accident. Officials expressed sadness over the loss of lives and assured support for the victims and their families.
