CIAA Files Chargesheet Against Nine Over Illegal Rental of School Property
KATHMANDU, Nov 24:
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a chargesheet at the Special Court against nine individuals for unlawfully renting out public property belonging to Rastriya Secondary School in Kaski to a private institution.
According to CIAA Spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel, those charged include the School Management Committee Chairperson Ram Bikram Rana, ex-officio member and Ward Chairperson of Pokhara Metropolitan City-1 Sahara Pradhan, along with five other committee members. They are accused of making an illegal decision to lease the school’s property to Anjuli Secondary School—a private school in Pokhara—for a period of 12 years.
The chargesheet also names Anjuli Secondary School Principal Sunita Kunwar KC and board member Raju KC, citing their involvement in the leasing agreement.
On March 9, 2024, the School Management Committee endorsed the decision to rent the property without the presence of the member-secretary. The agreement was formally signed three days later.
Prior to this, the Education Division of Pokhara Metropolitan City and the concerned ward office had instructed the School Management Committee to cancel the agreement, declaring it illegal.
