Three Injured in Bear Attack in Humla
Simkot (Humla), Nov 23 — Three individuals were injured this morning after a wild bear attacked them at Sim, Ward No. 5 of Simkot Rural Municipality.
The injured have been identified as 59-year-old Lakshya Rawat, his 55-year-old wife Banchu Rawat, and 38-year-old Rajani Rawat. All three are originally from Jaira Village, Ward No. 1 of Sarkegad Rural Municipality, but currently reside in Simkot.
According to DSP Shankar Pokharel of the District Police Office, the attack occurred at around 6:10 am while they were collecting grass. The bear suddenly charged at them, causing serious injuries.
Lakshya and Banchu sustained head injuries, while Rajani suffered minor injuries to her legs and back. Locals immediately assisted in the rescue and the victims were rushed to the District Hospital in Simkot.
Lakshya and Banchu are reported to be in critical condition, whereas Rajani is out of danger.
Residents have raised concerns over a recent rise in bear attacks in various parts of Humla.
