Kandara to Ignite Kathmandu with “Rhythm of Change”
Kathmandu, Nov 11: Nepali band Kandara has announced a special music program titled “Kathmandu Calling Kandara”, set to take place at XO Club in Thamel on Friday, November 14. This will mark the band’s second performance in Kathmandu in its 32-year history.
The announcement was made during a press conference on Monday, with the event being organized by Vishishta International in collaboration with XO Club and High Entertainment.
Lead singer Bivek Shrestha explained that the concert is part of the band’s new theme, “Rhythm of Change,” which reflects the country’s ongoing cultural, economic, and social transformations.
“The country is on the verge of change. Through music, we want to contribute to this transformation,” said Shrestha. “This concert at XO will be the first under this theme.”
Shrestha emphasized that performing at a club is more than entertainment—it is a way to connect with the youth.
“A club is not just a place for dancing and singing; it resonates with the interests and energy of today’s youth,” he added.
Last year, Kandara held its first Kathmandu concert at LOD in Thamel. The band plans to tour across Nepal over the next month, followed by international performances in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia as part of the “Rhythm of Change” tour.
The XO Club concert will feature the band’s hit songs, along with messages reflecting the “Rhythm of Change”, aiming to inspire and connect with young audiences.
“From now on, Kandara will focus not only on entertainment but on entertainment with social impact,” Shrestha said.
The band’s lineup includes Bivek Shrestha (lead vocals), Sunil Thapa (drums), Avinash Gaikwar (madal), Pankaj Jha (bass), Sandesh Mujo (guitar), Neel Ghatani (keyboard), with Simos Tjya as sound engineer and Naveen Thapa as technical expert.
During the press conference, Kandara also revealed that their upcoming album will be titled “Kavis Sanga Kandara.
