Kulman Ghising’s New Party to Be Named ‘Ujyalo Nepal’
KATHMANDU, Nov 10
The political party being formed under the leadership of Energy Minister Kul Man Ghising will officially be named ‘Ujyalo Nepal’ (Bright Nepal), party insiders confirmed on Sunday.
Supporters and key members of Ghising’s circle have been accelerating preparations for the party’s launch. Although the name ‘Rastriya Janasewa Party’ was initially considered for its perceived broad public appeal, the leadership ultimately agreed on ‘Ujyalo Nepal’, describing it as a symbolic tribute to Ghising’s widely admired role in ending Nepal’s load-shedding crisis.
According to individuals involved in internal meetings, the party is expected to be led by coordinator Anup Kumar Upadhyay, who will likely be endorsed as chairperson once the party is formally announced. “Discussions are still underway to finalize organizational structures and planned activities,” said one member. “After the internal process concludes, we will make everything public.”
Party officials said they aim to register the party with the Election Commission either by late Sunday or Monday morning. “If all documents and signatures are completed today, we will file immediately; otherwise, registration will take place tomorrow,” an official noted.
The formation of Ujyalo Nepal has drawn significant public attention, largely due to Ghising’s reputation as a results-driven technocrat credited with restoring uninterrupted electricity nationwide during his tenure as Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
