Finance Ministry Invites Project Proposals for GEF Funding
Kathmandu, Nov 7
The Ministry of Finance has announced a call for project proposals to utilize funds received from the Global Environment Facility (GEF). In a public notice issued by the Ministry’s Foreign Aid Coordination Division, agencies have been invited to submit proposals for the effective use of USD 1.089 million allocated to Nepal.
The GEF is a partnership of multiple multilateral environmental funds working collectively to tackle the world’s most urgent environmental challenges. Its financing supports developing countries in addressing complex ecological issues and advancing global environmental commitments.
According to the GEF, the facility has provided more than USD 26 billion in grants over the past 30 years and mobilized an additional USD 153 billion for country-driven priority programs.
The Ministry has requested proposals specifically for utilizing the remaining funds available to Nepal under the GEF Global Biodiversity Framework Fund.
Agencies seeking funding must channel their proposals through the national budget system. The deadline for submission is November 30.
