3 Killed, 4 Seriously Injured in Rupandehi Electric Vehicle Accident

A tragic road accident in Rupandehi District claimed the lives of three people and left four others seriously injured on October 29, 2025, after an electric vehicle (EV) overturned along the Butwal–Bhairahawa road section.

According to local authorities, the passenger EV was heading towards Bhairahawa when it lost control and veered off the road, resulting in the fatal crash. Rescue teams and police officers immediately reached the scene and transported the injured to Universal College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) Hospital in Bhairahawa.

Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding and technical malfunction may have contributed to the accident, though the exact cause is under investigation. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle suddenly swerved before flipping over.

Police have identified the victims and are coordinating with the families for necessary procedures. The injured remain in critical condition under medical supervision.

Authorities have urged drivers to follow speed limits and ensure vehicle maintenance, especially as electric vehicles become increasingly common on Nepal’s highways.

The incident has raised renewed concerns about road safety and EV inspection standards in Nepal, highlighting the need for stricter monitoring and public awareness to prevent such tragedies.
