Snowfall Disrupts Travel and Daily Life in Manaslu Region
Gorkha, Oct 28
Continuous snowfall since last night has disrupted daily life and affected tourism activities across the northern region of Gorkha district. According to local residents, several areas within Chumnumbri Rural Municipality have been blanketed in snow, making movement difficult for both locals and visitors.
Pasang Funjo Lama, a resident of Chumnumbri-7, said, “The area received light rainfall followed by heavy snowfall last night. It’s still snowing, so most people have remained indoors, and even yaks have been kept inside their sheds.”
Villages situated above 3,000 meters, including Nile, Chhule, Pangdun, Lar, Phurpe, Lamagaun, Burji, Jong, and Chhekam, are now covered with thick layers of snow. Similarly, Samagaun, Syala, and Lho have also been completely blanketed.
The snowfall has particularly impacted tourists and trekkers along the Manaslu Circuit, one of Nepal’s most popular trekking routes. Many travelers heading toward Larke Pass were forced to halt their journeys midway due to the severe weather conditions, waiting for the snowfall to subside before continuing their trek.
