Three Ministers Finalized for Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s Cabinet
Kathmandu, September 15, 2025 – Prime Minister Sushila Karki has finalized the appointment of three key ministers to her new government, according to sources at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar. The appointments are set to be formalized at a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Rameshore Khanal will assume the position of Minister of Finance. Khanal, a former finance secretary, recently chaired the High-Level Economic Reform Recommendation Committee and submitted a comprehensive report on proposed economic reforms. His expertise is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the government’s financial policies.
Om Prakash Aryal has been assigned dual responsibilities as Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Law. Aryal, a senior legal professional, is recognized for his involvement in numerous writ petitions and social movements. He also recently served as the legal advisor to Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah, highlighting his experience in governance and legal affairs.
Kulman Ghising will take charge of the Ministry of Energy, alongside responsibilities for Physical Infrastructure, Transport, and Urban Development. Ghising, the former managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, gained national recognition for his leadership in reforming Nepal’s electricity sector. He had previously been removed from his post during the KP Sharma Oli-led government.
Officials have noted that this is a preliminary list, and additional responsibilities or appointments may be announced in the coming days. The newly appointed ministers are expected to play a significant role in implementing the government’s development and reform agenda.
