South Korean Embassy Hosts K-Food Festival in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU, Nov 10
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal organized a Korean Food Festival on Saturday at the Ambassador’s residence in Kathmandu, bringing together Nepali returnees from Korea and Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) alumni to celebrate Korean cuisine and cultural exchange.
Ambassador Taeyoung Park delivered congratulatory remarks, calling the festival a meaningful platform for participants to revisit their experiences in Korea and share authentic Korean dishes with family and friends. According to the embassy, the event highlighted the strong cultural ties fostered through food, shared memories, and people-to-people connections.
Ambassador Park thanked the attendees and noted the rising popularity of Korean culture in Nepal—ranging from K-pop and K-dramas to Korean cuisine. He emphasized Korea’s commitment to deepening cultural relations and providing opportunities for Nepalis to strengthen their connection to Korean society.
The festival is part of South Korea’s broader reintegration initiative for returnee workers. It follows the K-Food Entrepreneurship Training Program held in Kathmandu in August. The Korean government has expressed continued support for helping Nepali youth build sustainable start-up ventures, generate employment, and contribute to Nepal’s economic growth, the embassy added.
