Red Paint Thrown at Mahesh Basnet’s Vehicle in Biratnagar; Two Arrested

KATHMANDU, Nov 23 — CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet’s vehicle was targeted in Biratnagar on Sunday morning when two Gen Z youths splashed red paint on it.

According to SP Kabir Katuwal of Biratnagar Police, the incident occurred while Basnet was traveling from Biratnagar to Itahari to attend a Youth Association program. The youths stopped his vehicle on the road before throwing red paint at it.

Police have arrested 19-year-old Arpit Kunwar of Biratnagar-2 and 25-year-old Sanjog Gautam of Biratnagar-1 in connection with the act.

Basnet had arrived in Itahari earlier on a Shree Airlines flight at 10:50 AM for the Youth Association’s public awareness campaign. Authorities said the situation is under control, and Basnet has continued to the event venue. Security has been tightened following the incident.
