President Paudel’s Message on National Children’s Day
President Ram Chandra Paudel extended warm wishes to Nepali children and their parents on the occasion of National Children’s Day, observed every year on Bhadra 29. The day marks Nepal’s ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This year’s theme is “Investment in Children: Beginning of a Secure Future.”
In his message, the President emphasized that Children’s Day should inspire the nation to focus on education, health, protection, and overall development of children, along with ensuring the necessary investment for their well-being.
He reminded everyone that the Constitution of Nepal guarantees children’s rights as fundamental rights, and stressed that coordinated efforts are required from the government, non-government organizations, civil society, parents, schools, and other stakeholders. According to him, the day serves as a call for both the state and society to keep children’s best interests at the center of every action.
The President also pointed out that many children in Nepal are still deprived of their rights. He called for stronger attention to the root causes that put children at risk and reaffirmed that preventing violence, abuse, and inhuman treatment is the shared duty of authorities and communities.
To secure the future of children, he highlighted the importance of ensuring:
- Free, quality, and practical education
- Nutritious food and safe drinking water
- Proper sanitation and immunization
- Child-friendly health institutions
- Effective legal and policy implementation
He also underlined the need to create safe and supportive environments at home, in schools, and in communities, while guaranteeing equal opportunities for children from all backgrounds.
President Paudel expressed hope that National Children’s Day will encourage everyone to play their part in protecting, developing, and empowering children, and inspire collective efforts toward building a brighter and more secure future for the next generation.
