Kathmandu, October 27
President Ramchandra Paudel has expressed confidence that the Chhath festival will help foster national unity and strengthen harmony among the Nepali people.
In his message of greetings on the occasion of Chhath Festival 2082 BS, President Paudel stated,
“I am confident that this festival will inspire the elimination of discrimination, prejudice, and inequality, whether based on class, ethnicity, or gender, and further promote national unity while preserving and promoting our rich cultural traditions.”
Symbol of Harmony, Faith, and Environmental Awareness
President Paudel emphasized that the Chhath festival, which honors the sun, water, and earth, plays a vital role in advancing peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.
He added that the celebration, which includes offering prayers to the setting and rising sun, observing fasting, and staying awake through the night along the banks of rivers, ponds, and lakes, reflects deep spiritual devotion and environmental respect.
According to the President, the rituals of Chhath not only strengthen family bonds and social harmony but also encourage people to fulfill their duties toward nature.
“Recognizing that life on Earth depends on the sun, dedicating oneself to worship from the fourth to the seventh day of the bright fortnight of Kartik, by offering milk and prayers to the rising and setting sun, helps foster environmental consciousness and unity within families and society,”
Festival of Faith and Well-Being
The President also highlighted the belief that observing the Chhath fast with devotion brings desired blessings, enhances family well-being, and alleviates sorrow and hardship, symbolizing hope and positivity.
The Chhath festival, one of Nepal’s most revered celebrations, continues to unite people from diverse backgrounds in shared faith, cultural pride, and environmental awareness
