NMB Bank Introduces Soft POS, Turning Smartphones Into Contactless Payment Terminals

NMB Bank has unveiled its new Soft POS (Software Point-of-Sale) system, marking a major step forward in Nepal’s digital payment ecosystem. The technology allows any NFC-enabled Android smartphone to function as a secure POS terminal, enabling merchants to accept contactless Debit and Credit card payments without relying on traditional hardware.
Designed with Nepal’s diverse business landscape in mind, Soft POS is especially beneficial for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the service and tourism sectors. The solution offers a low-cost, portable, and secure alternative to conventional POS devices, helping expand digital payment accessibility across the country. The system supports both domestic and international cards.
