Newborn’s Body Found After Dog Digs It Up in Pyuthan; 21-Year-Old Woman Arrested
A deeply disturbing incident in Pyuthan has shocked the local community after a dog uncovered the body of a newborn on Monday morning. According to police, the dog dug up the infant buried underground and roamed around the village carrying the body in its mouth, sparking panic among residents.
Dog Discovers Newborn’s Body
The heartbreaking discovery was made around 9:30 a.m. when villagers noticed the dog scratching the soil and pulling out the remains of the newborn. Witnessing the horrifying scene, locals immediately informed the police, leading to swift action from authorities.
Mother Arrested After Confession
Police recovered the newborn’s body and began an investigation. During the inquiry, a 21-year-old woman was taken into custody. According to Inspector Hari Bhattarai of Pyuthan Police, the woman confessed that she had given birth to a baby girl three to four days earlier from an affair. Fearing social exposure, she reportedly threw the newborn in a wheat field, leading to the tragic outcome.
Post-Mortem and Legal Action
The infant’s body has been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, the district court has approved a five-day police remand for the accused woman as authorities continue further investigation under homicide charges.
