Nepali Students Can Now Access Up to USD 100,000 in Collateral-Free Education Loans

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Nepali students planning to study abroad can now obtain education loans without the need for collateral or a guarantor. US-based organization MPower Financing has launched a loan facility of up to USD 100,000 (around Rs 13 million) for postgraduate students from Nepal, marking a first for the country.

The initiative is designed to reduce financial barriers faced by students, who often struggle to meet the strict requirements of traditional Nepali banks that demand land, property collateral, or a US-based co-signer.

Unlike conventional lending systems, MPower Financing evaluates students based on their university admission, chosen field of study, and future income potential, rather than family wealth or property. The organization has previously provided loans to over 20,000 students from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and African countries and is now extending this opportunity to Nepali students.

Eligible students can apply for loans ranging from USD 2,001 to USD 100,000, covering tuition, living expenses, and other educational costs. The fully digital application process offers fixed interest rates and clear repayment plans, simplifying financial management for students and families.

In addition to funding, MPower provides scholarships, visa support, and career guidance, including help with proof of funds for visas and post-graduation job search assistance.

The program is especially aimed at students pursuing STEM, business, and professional degrees, which offer strong global career prospects.

According to MPower Financing, the initiative aims to empower Nepali students, making higher education abroad more accessible, inclusive, and achievable.
