Nepali Nurses Leave Home for Better Pay and Careers Abroad

Many Nepali nurses are moving abroad in search of better pay and career growth. Low salaries, weak job protection, and limited opportunities at home are pushing trained nurses to countries like the US, Australia, and other developed nations.

In Nepal, nurses often face long working hours and low wages. Many say their hard work is not valued enough. Because of this, working abroad has become an attractive option where they can earn more and gain better professional experience.

Global demand for nurses has also increased, making it easier for Nepali nurses to find jobs overseas. Mamata Baral from Pokhara, who has been working in Australia for three years, says the move helped her build a stable career and improve her quality of life.

Experts warn that the growing migration of nurses could create a shortage of skilled health workers in Nepal. They suggest better pay, job security, and career growth at home to encourage nurses to stay.
