Nepali Army Truck Accident in Makwanpur Leaves 16 Soldiers Injured

A tragic accident involving a Nepali Army truck occurred on Tuesday afternoon, leaving 16 soldiers injured, six of them seriously. The incident took place around 2:50 p.m. at Churiyamai, a border point between Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-15 (Makwanpur) and Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-22 (Bara).

Headed to Tactical Firing Event

According to Makwanpur police, four army trucks from the Shree No. 2 Rajdal Battalion were traveling from Khairenitar to Dhanusha to take part in a tactical firing event for the Chief of Army Staff Banner Competition.

One of the trucks, with registration number Lu 1 Ga 280, slipped off a bridge and fell approximately 10–12 feet into a stream. The truck was carrying soldiers and staff members en route to the military program.

Emergency Rescue Operations

Rescue efforts were launched immediately after the accident. Police and emergency responders reached the site quickly, while the Nepali Army deployed a helicopter to assist in evacuating the injured.

Out of the 16 injured soldiers, six were seriously hurt, including:

  • Officers Chakrabahadur Bohora and Hiramana Majhi
  • Non-commissioned officers Tikaram Kandel and Sunil Chaudhary
  • Soldiers Bharat Bik and Rohit Pandey

These soldiers were airlifted to Birendra Hospital in Kathmandu for specialized treatment.

Treatment of the Injured

Meanwhile, ten other soldiers with moderate injuries were taken to Hetauda Hospital. According to officials, eight of them have already received treatment and are recovering.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident. While slippery road conditions and the narrow bridge are suspected factors, the exact reason has not yet been officially confirmed.
