Nepal Start Strong with Nine-Wicket Win in Blind Women’s T20 World Cup

Kathmandu, Nov 12: Nepal got off to a flying start in the ongoing Blind Women’s T20 World Cup in India, registering a convincing nine-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in their opening match on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 88 runs, Nepal cruised to 89 for 1 in just 5.2 overs, powered by a blistering innings from opener Mankesi Chaudhary, who scored an unbeaten 61 runs off 22 balls. With this remarkable knock, Chaudhary became the first player to score a half-century in the Blind Women’s World Cup. Binda Pun supported her with a quick 13 runs off 8 balls.

Earlier, Sri Lanka, after winning the toss and opting to bat, managed to post 87 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Mihirani Dulanjali was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 23 runs.

For Nepal, Kanti Yogi shone with the ball, claiming three wickets, while Chaudhary’s all-round performance earned her the Player of the Match award.

Nepal will next face India on Friday, who also started their campaign with a win over Sri Lanka.
