Nepal Launches Its Own Alternative to TeamViewer and AnyDesk
Nepal’s IT landscape has taken a major leap forward with the launch of Multiple Desk, a secure and world-class remote desktop software developed by Jooneli Inc., a Nepali company providing software services to more than 300 financial institutions in Nepal and abroad.
For years, most Nepali businesses relied on foreign applications like TeamViewer and AnyDesk for remote support — a dependency that not only raised data security concerns but also led to a steady outflow of capital overseas. Seeking to change that, Jooneli Inc. has introduced Multiple Desk as a homegrown alternative designed with data privacy and cost-efficiency in mind.
“We have developed a secure and world-class remote desktop application right here in Nepal,” said Apar Thebe, CEO of Jooneli Inc. “Since our servers are based in Nepal, user data remains completely secure.”
Initially created to serve Jooneli’s own clients, Multiple Desk has now been expanded for use by businesses across all industries.
Two Core Features: RDP and VDI
Multiple Desk provides two main capabilities:
- Remote Desktop Portal (RDP): Enables users to access another computer remotely in real time.
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): Designed for larger enterprises, this feature hosts multiple virtual desktops on a central server, allowing secure access from anywhere in the world.
According to Thebe, VDI technology is more advanced, secure, and scalable than traditional remote access systems, though it comes at a slightly higher cost.
Free and Paid Plans Available
Like TeamViewer and AnyDesk, Multiple Desk offers both free and premium versions.
Free Plan Includes:
- Single device access
- 2GB daily file transfer limit
- AES-256 encryption
- Clipboard synchronization
- Community support
Premium Plans:
- Business Plan (NPR 650/month): Unlimited devices, priority support, file transfer, and session recording.
- Corporate Plan (NPR 950/month): Includes all Business features plus audit logs, dedicated account managers, custom integrations, and the option to host data on the client’s own server.
Expanding Beyond Windows
Currently, Multiple Desk is available only for Windows, but Jooneli Inc. plans to launch an Android version by the end of 2025, expanding its reach to mobile users.
With Multiple Desk, Nepal joins the ranks of countries developing indigenous tech solutions to strengthen digital sovereignty and data security while reducing reliance on foreign software.
