NC Leader Shekhar Koirala Emphasizes Youth Engagement in National Politics
Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has underlined the importance of integrating youth voices into Nepal’s political landscape, highlighting his long-standing advocacy for issues that matter to the younger generation. In recent statements, Koirala urged political parties to recognize and respond to the aspirations of young people, noting that their energy and ideas are crucial for driving reform and national progress.
Koirala has specifically pointed to movements led by younger citizens, such as the Gen-Z protests, as signals that political leadership must adapt to new expectations. He called on parties, including his own, to reflect on the messages emerging from these movements and to work toward building a political ethos that is inclusive of youth concerns.
Although he has also condemned violence and property damage during protests, Koirala stressed that the core message from young demonstrators reveals a need for fresh ideas and greater participation from younger leaders in decision-making processes. By appealing to the legacy of Nepal’s democratic pioneers, he suggested that the party should harness the potential of youth to renew its relevance and strengthen democratic engagement across the country.
Koirala’s emphasis on youth issues comes at a time when political engagement among young voters and activists is on the rise. His remarks reflect a broader recognition within Nepali politics that addressing youth priorities from employment and governance to representation is essential for long-term stability and growth.
