Man Arrested in Lalitpur for Illegal Trade of Protected Live Turtles
A young man has been arrested in Lalitpur for his involvement in the illegal buying and selling of protected live turtles. The arrest was made by a team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
Officials said the suspect was caught while trying to sell the turtles, which are listed as protected species under Nepal’s wildlife conservation laws. The illegal trade of these animals is punishable by law.
The CIB team confiscated the turtles and handed them over to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation for proper care. Authorities stressed the importance of protecting endangered species and preventing illegal wildlife trade.
The suspect is currently in custody and will face legal proceedings. Officials warned the public against participating in wildlife trafficking, stating strict actions will be taken against offenders.
