Heavy Rain Likely in Some Parts of Nepal, Experts Urge Caution

Meteorologists have urged the public to remain cautious as there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts of the country today.

According to a bulletin issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather across the country will remain generally cloudy this afternoon. Light to moderate rain is expected in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as in parts of the hilly regions elsewhere.

The Division also noted that one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces could experience heavy rainfall.

Similarly, tonight the weather is expected to stay mostly cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain is likely in some places of Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, along with other hilly areas, while one or two locations in Koshi and Sudurpaschim could see heavy rain.

The Division has warned of potential landslides and debris flows, rising water levels in rivers and streams, and possible disruptions to transportation. People are advised to remain alert and make necessary preparations.

At present, the monsoon trough is positioned near its average location, and moisture-laden winds from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are influencing Nepal’s weather.
