CIAA Calls for Return of Items Stolen During Recent Protests
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has appealed to the public to return items stolen during the recent protests in Nepal. In a notice issued on Monday, the commission emphasized the importance of returning goods taken on Bhadra 23 and 24.
According to the CIAA, thefts occurred at its central office in Kathmandu, as well as branches in Itahari, Pokhara, Hetauda, and Butwal. The stolen items reportedly include vehicles, televisions, computers, laptops, iPads, mobile phones, cameras, scanners, microwave ovens, hard drives, heaters, and fans.
The commission is currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify those responsible for the thefts. The CIAA has stressed that the immediate return of all stolen items is mandatory, warning that failure to comply will result in legal action.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by public institutions during periods of unrest and the importance of upholding law and order. Citizens are urged to cooperate with authorities to ensure that justice is served and that public resources are protected.
