Birgunj Customs Records Significant Export Growth Over Seven Months
Birgunj customs has reported a substantial increase in exports during the first seven months of the current fiscal year. Goods worth NPR 66.48 billion were exported through the customs point, reflecting strong trade activity.
Compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year, the export volume has shown a notable rise, indicating improving performance in trade and logistics. Key commodities contributing to this growth include agricultural products, manufactured goods, and other essential exports.
Officials at the customs office highlighted that increased coordination with exporters, streamlined procedures, and improved infrastructure have contributed to smoother operations at the Birgunj customs point. Efficient processing and documentation have helped reduce delays and encouraged higher export volumes.
The growth in exports also reflects positive developments in Nepal’s trade relations with neighboring countries, including India, which is a major trading partner. Enhanced market access and demand for Nepali products abroad have played a role in the rising export figures.
Experts note that sustained export growth is vital for the country’s economic development, foreign exchange earnings, and employment generation. Efficient customs management and supportive policies can further strengthen trade performance.
Authorities continue to monitor export trends closely and are working to implement measures that facilitate trade while maintaining compliance with regulations. The outlook for the coming months remains optimistic as exporters capitalize on growing demand and improved trade mechanisms.
This development underscores the importance of strategic planning, infrastructure investment, and policy support in sustaining and increasing export activity through major trade hubs like Birgunj.
