Transport Federation Clarifies Position on Odd-Even Traffic Scheme Discussion
The Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs National Federation has clarified that no formal meeting has been held regarding the implementation of an odd-even traffic scheme. The statement was shared by Acting Chairman Saroj Sitoula in Kathmandu.
According to the clarification, there has been no official discussion at the Department of Transport Management about introducing the traffic system. The federation emphasized that any decisions related to such measures would require proper consultation and coordination with stakeholders.
The odd-even traffic system is generally considered as a way to manage vehicle flow in busy urban areas by allowing vehicles to operate on alternate days based on their registration numbers. However, the federation stated that no formal steps have been taken toward its implementation at this time.
Transport sector representatives highlighted the importance of structured communication before introducing any policy changes. Coordination between government authorities and transport operators is essential to ensure that decisions are practical and beneficial for both service providers and the public.
Officials also noted that discussions on traffic management are ongoing in broader contexts, focusing on improving urban mobility and reducing congestion. Any future plans would be communicated clearly after proper evaluation and agreement among concerned parties.
Kathmandu continues to experience increasing traffic activity, leading to a growing need for effective management strategies. Authorities are exploring various approaches to improve road efficiency and enhance commuter experience.
The federation’s statement aims to provide clarity and avoid confusion regarding the current status of the proposed traffic system. Stakeholders have emphasized that transparency and accurate information are important when discussing public policies.
