Nepal Makes Notable Strides in Fighting Corruption and Money Laundering, Says Finance Minister
KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal has highlighted significant progress in Nepal’s efforts to combat corruption and money laundering in recent times.
Addressing a meeting of the National Concern and Coordination Committee under the National Assembly on Tuesday, Minister Khanal noted that Nepal had previously faced criticism from international bodies for enacting anti-corruption laws without proper enforcement. However, he emphasized that the situation has now improved substantially.
“We have not only established the required legal framework but also made tangible progress in filing and pursuing corruption cases,” Khanal said. “These developments will be shared with the international community at the upcoming review meeting in January.”
The minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to good governance, financial transparency, and anti-money laundering measures, stressing that Nepal remains dedicated to fulfilling its obligations to international institutions.
