470th Sahitya Sandhya Highlights Senior Citizens’ Role in Literature and AI’s Growing Influence
KATHMANDU, Nov 23 — The 470th edition of the monthly Sahitya Sandhya explored two major themes: the contributions of senior citizens to progressive Nepali literature and the use of artificial intelligence in writing, alongside a special poetry recital.
Speaking at the virtual event, Prof. Dr. Mukesh Chalise stressed that dismissing senior citizens as outdated or unproductive reflects a narrow mindset. He highlighted the lasting impact of literary figures such as Gokul Joshi, Hriday Chandra Singh Pradhan, Gopal Prasad Rimal, Yuddha Prasad Mishra, Shyam Prasad Sharma, Shantadas, Kevalpure Kisan, and Netralal Abhagi, noting their role in shaping social transformation through their philosophical contributions.
Addressing the session on AI in Literature, journalist Ajay Sharma said that although AI can recall lengthy narratives and imitate writing styles, it still cannot match the originality and depth of human creativity.
The event also included poetry and literary recitations by Dambar Pahadi, Bindu Adhikari Dhakal, Dr. Krishna Suvedi, Maheshraj Kharel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Adhikari, Krishna Bause, Jayanti Spandan, Ramchandra Dahal, Kumar Nepal, Om Prasad Koirala, Gopal Kumar Mainali, Dr. Ramhari Lamsal, Durga Prasad Adhikari Bharmarkote, and Trilochan Joshi.
